Road Trip Beers from the U.S of A!

Well that was a nice little weekend of some work, friends, Birthdays and of course NEW Beer! I got into some of the USA stash I purchased last week and shared with with a new friend of ours by the fire.

So from Left to Right in the picture above we have....

Dark Horse Brewing Co. out of Michigan Smells Like a Safety Meeting Imperial IPA

The title is what sold me on this purchase well that and the lady at Aj's told me anything by Dark Horse was great. Have you ever gone for a "Safety Meeting"? Reminds me of my years in Whistler skiing away the days. It chimes in at 8.5% and 48 IBU's and properly names as the aroma in this beer is big, bold and delish as a result of all the late addition hops. I do love my bitter beers but this was a nice change with little bitterness and a nice flavour to it and a ton of body to this beer. As Dark Horse states "this beer can be announced to the nose from across the room that someone is definitely having a Safety Meeting." Well after all the hop is a cousin to the plant that created "safety meetings" (they have a fun video on this beer here)

Next up by Grimm Artisanal Ales was Kinetic Cloud a Dry Hopped Sour Ale featuring New Zealand hops. I had never tried a dry hopped Sour before so was overly excited for this! Cruising in at 5% and a nice hazy straw gold colour it was a decent beer. I do LOVE my Sours lately and this did not disappoint in that department. But I am going to be honest I was expecting more "hop" on the nose or palate than I got. This style being new to me perhaps that was a wrong thought but man a sour with some more hop flavour would be the bomb!

I really want to try their Plink an American Sour Ale with Hibiscus and Orange Zest so if any of you are across the border and see it I'll trade ya something nice for it!

#3 Steal This Can is an American IPA style beer by Lord Hobo Brewing Co and I bought three by them as the lady also said by all 3 of those haha. Though it didn't blow my mind it was a solid beer I would drink again forsure. Smooth drinking pine & citrus yada yada yada

Alright, Spider Bite Brewing Co., besides my dislike for spiders I had to try something by you because of your name and well that spider is dang cute! Fundur is a Session IPA at 4.7% and 40 IBU's. Had a nice Hop aroma of the bat but i found it was a little sour tasting. I have had this a few times with some random sessions. Maybe it's me or maybe it's the beer I drank previous to this one, or maybe that is the profile ... Anyone else tried this one? Thoughts? I will have to revisit this brand again and see.

Last but not least I filled a Crowler up with #42 ESB by Galaxy Brewing Company. I have been digging the Extra Special Bitters lately and this was a on par! Don't let the bitter in the title fool you as it goes down smooth and I can always have a couple of of ESB's so good thing i got 32oz of it. Made with Maris Otter heirloom malt, and All NYS hops it rocked in at 6.7%.

Well I hope you vicariously tasted some new beers and got your mouth watering while reading this. Yes our Beers in Canada are wonderful but our neighbours of the south are doing some wonderful things too!!
