Planning a road trip to Muskoka for Beerhurst-at-Deerhurst Craft Beer Festival on May 28th?
Here are a few more stops to make along the way for an over-the-top weekend with friends!
Don't need to read anymore and want a ticket? Go here!
I was fortunate to be invited up to attend this festival in March 2020, and to be honest it has been stuck in my mind as must repeat event and I am thrilled it's back again for 2022! As most of us will be cruising north to the event your first recommended stop, besides the massive Candy Shoppe for some retro favourites, is right off HWY 11 in Gravenhurst, ON.
Sawdust City Brewing has many tasty styles of beer on tap and their patio is NOW OPEN and waiting for you! It's the perfect distance to break up the driving and get out and stretch your legs and happens to be one of my fav #CraftBeer destinations. Grab a pint and a snack and beers to go to chill in the hotel room or bring back to a friend that couldn’t join ya. Must try's are their newly released Patio Nights Sangria Pale Ale, Do or do not, There is no try Czech Pils, or as far as IPA's go their Juicin' and Lone Pine are some of the best around!
Canvas Brewing Co. is located in the town of Huntsville, just 10 min from Deerhurst Resort, and opened their doors in 2019. With 20 beer taps, a snack menu, live music and featured art from local artists their taproom is welcoming and reflects community and you might as well check another Ontario Craft Brewery off your list! From Kölsch and hefeweizen to IPA's and Kettle Sours there is something for everyone to enjoy a few pints of!
Hunstville Brewhouse is also located downtown and owned by Lake of Bays Brewing Co. They offer a variety of in-house one off brews in addition to Lake of Bays offerings and a great place to grab a locally sourced lunch or dinner and fuel up for the party! They also have a fridge full of beer to take-away and a low abv at 2.5% and non-alcoholic offering for those seeking lighter options. Grab a napkin and get ready to drool at photos below. I know I am looking forward to trying the local Trout Tacos paired with a Switchback Pilsner!
Looking for something more adventurous? Treetop Trekking Huntsville is now open for the 2022 season and perhaps a fun pre-Beerhurst event or if you’re daring enough maybe plan this for “the morning after” ;) Regardless, get your adrenaline pumping at Treetop Trekking Huntsville and feel like Tarzan, or Jane, while you climb, swing, and zip through the forest canopy. 💯 will make you feel alive again!
Finally let's not forget the abundance of activities at Deerhurst Resort included in your stay there aka resort fee. Changing seasonally you can now play a round of Disc Golf, hike about, explore the water in a kayak or SUP, play tennis or re-create a Top Gun scene on the beach volleyball court. Whatever your desire the resort is a great place to get active or relax, year round!
Now onto the main event...
The Beerhurst-at-Deerhurst Craft Beer Festival (with concert) takes place on May 28th from 6 p.m. to midnight (afterparty in my room! Just kidding, i'm aging, but anything could happen right!?) and a live music performance by the 10-person band Dwayne Gretzky will start at 9 p.m. This band is the icing on the cake to the 20+ Ontario Craft Breweries pouring at the event. Last time they opened with Sledgehammer, by Peter Gabriel, and gained an instant fan over here. They play a variety of great tunes, "bring to life the greatest songs of all time" and their presence is electric, so get ready to dance!
General, event-only tickets are up for sale. Want to make a weekend out of it? Deerhurst Resort also offers one- or two-night weekend packages alongside admission tickets to the festival for people interested in staying overnight. More information on the festival can be found at deerhurstresort.com/craft-beer-festival or by calling 1-800-461-4393.
I've got my room booked and a few great friends joining me in what is sure to be a great time. Are you going to be there? Reach out and let me know i'd love to raise a glass with you and welcome back the return of Beerhurst-at-Deerhurst and many other events this summer!
Cheers,
Tiffany
